Sample Weekly Schedule

Mountain Community Online School follows a predictable weekly rhythm that balances live instruction, independent coursework, individualized support, and experiential learning.

While exact schedules may vary by grade level, the structure below reflects a typical week for MCOS students in grades 4–8.

Monday through Thursday are anchored by live instruction in core academic subjects, supported by independent work and daily check-ins.

Students begin the day with a brief check-in that helps set goals, review expectations, and build routine. This time supports organization, connection, and accountability.

Students participate in daily live instruction delivered by licensed teachers through EdOptions Academy (Edmentum). These sessions provide direct teaching, guided practice, and opportunities for questions and feedback.

ELA and Math are the instructional anchors of the day.

Each day includes dedicated time for individualized academic support and Success Coach check-ins. This time may be used for targeted skill support, progress review, or planning and organization.

Students take a scheduled break to eat, move, and step away from screens.

Science and Social Studies are delivered through a blended model that combines digital coursework with live instructional support and weekly live seminars. This structure allows for flexibility while maintaining academic rigor and interaction.

Students spend dedicated time each day working on Climb Higher Projects. This may include research, creation, reflection, or portfolio updates, supported by school staff and Success Coaches.

Fridays are intentionally designed to look different. Rather than following a traditional class schedule, Fridays prioritize experiential learning, community connection, and extended project work.

Students begin the day with a whole-school virtual gathering focused on celebration, recognition, and previewing the week ahead.

Students engage in a multi-hour block of uninterrupted project time. This allows for deeper exploration, creation, collaboration, and preparation for portfolio entries and showcases.

Success Coaches meet with students individually or in small groups to review progress, set goals, and provide guidance.

Students take a scheduled break to eat, move, and step away from screens.

Students may complete assignments, receive additional academic support, or participate in clubs and enrichment opportunities such as art, STEM challenges, debate, or student leadership activities.

Students end the day reflecting on their learning and updating project portfolios, helping build ownership and long-term documentation of growth.
